Patient 2.0 – live blog – intro session

October 7, 2012

The first session of the health conference starts today and is Patient 2.0
In this session a variety of innovations will be showcased that deal with the health sector and patients.
The innovations are being rated by the panel on elects such as patient user experience data handling, engagement and retention and others.

There are six innovations being showcased today. We have a very able panel here today that will be assessing the tools. The title of the session is called Patient Shark Tank as products are assessed from a patient perspective.

Panelists discuss some of the technologies they would like to see:

-discussion of wearability vs usability ie clothing that includes health apps
-an iPhone telling you how to take care of your health
-there is no algorithm that helps you navigate the healthcare system
-any technology that helps you curate the experience
-implantable bio sensors that could tell you things about your health but needs to be non invasive

What is the number one criteria for rating health tech what is number one thing it needs to have?

-great user experience
-what’s the physical experience of the technology how do you use it physically
-Is it really patient centered?

How do you put fun or joy into these experiences and how can we reduce health anxiety?

-navigation
-tripit good example of site that health could replicate
-my healthy vet good example
-patients know best is a good platform for participatory medicine one huge problem re data portability
-wearable posture sensor it monitors your posture sends the data to the cloud and on your phone you have an avatar that mirrors your posture you see your posture through this sensor it is currently a belt but could be transferred into more aesthetic clothing
-scan ado is interesting company
-new medii looks at data analytics
-neurotopia new company brain based bio sensors for athletes but can be applied to all
It also looks at stress sensors which could be useful for general community
-the participatory seal is a site that allows patients to rate and nominate doctors and allows for feedback
